On January 14, 2010, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Dragoljuba Benčina held political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. Both sides made positive comments on China-Slovenia relations, expressing willingness to work together to push bilateral cooperation on politics, economy and humanities for more fruitful results.

Both sides also exchanged views on China-EU relations, the situations in the western Balkan region and other issues of common concern.
