More foreign leaders and regional organizations have recently sent letters and telegraphs to Chinese leaders and the Chinese government, expressing sincere condolences to the Chinese government and people on the rain-triggered mudslides in Zhouqu County in China's northwestern Gansu Province. President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Myung-bak, on behalf of the ROK government and people, extended profound condolences and sympathy to China over the catastrophe and voiced hope that the Chinese people would overcome the natural disaster as soon as possible. Myanmar's State Peace and Development Council Chairman Than Shwe and Prime Minister General Thein Sein sent their profound sympathies and condolences to China, hoping the people affected would resume a normal life soon. On behalf of the Jordanian government and people, Jordan's King Abdullah II extended his most sincere condolences to China. Moroccan King Mohammed VI also conveyed the most sincere condolences to the Chinese people over the deadly mudslides. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov sent his profound sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Chinese people. Azerbaijani President IIham Aliyev, on behalf of the Azerbaijani people, conveyed deep sympathies to the families of the victims as well as all Chinese people over the calamity. Tajik Prime Minister Akil Akilov voiced heartfelt condolences to the Chinese people, wishing for a swift reconstruction in the disaster-stricken region. Comoros' President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi expressed his deep grief over China's heavy loss of life and offered profound condolences and deep sympathy to the Chinese people. German President Christian Wulff extended deep sympathy to the Chinese people, saying his country is willing to support China's rescue and relief work. The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) sent deep and heartfelt condolences to the Chinese government and people, voicing its firm belief that the Chinese people would overcome the natural disaster and achieve a final victory in the rescue and relief efforts. |
