On August 17, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai, with a lawmakers' delegation of Democratic Party of Japan headed by Yukio Hatoyama, former Japanese prime minister & former president of the Democratic Party of Japan. Wen said during his visit to Japan in May this year, the two sides announced a range of concrete measures on enhancing political mutual trust and win-win cooperation. He hoped that the two nations would work together to fulfill the important consensuses under the guidance of the principles and spirit of the four political documents. Wen also hoped the Japanese lawmakers would contribute to promoting China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relations and safeguarding Asian peace and prosperity. The premier said China was dedicated to the policy of opening-up and welcomed Japan to expand trade and investment in China. Wen said Chinese and Japanese businesses as well as financial and research institutions should tap their respective advantages and closely cooperate to set up world-class pilot projects in the fields of recycling economy, green economy, energy-saving and environmental protection. "This will help advance China-Japan economic and trade cooperation," Wen said. Hatoyama said he was glad to see constant progress in the Japan-China relationship. He said the purpose of the visit by the lawmakers' delegation is to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. He said the delegation was deeply impressed by the trip to Caofeidian, agreeing that bilateral cooperation in energy-saving and environmental protection had great potential. Hatoyama said he and other Japanese lawmakers would actively push the Japanese side to strengthen contacts and deepen cooperation with China, in a bid to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win results at a higher level. The Japanese delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the China-Japan Friendship Association. |
