Grand Celebration of Chinese and Vietnamese Youth Opens in Nanning, Guangxi Hu Jintao and Nong Duc Manh Send Messages of Congratulation

On the evening of August 28, 2010, the grand celebration of Chinese and Vietnamese youth kicked off in Nanning, Guangxi. Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) sent a message of congratulation respectively.

Hu Jintao pointed out in the message that today the Chinese and Vietnamese youth gather together grandly in Guangxi to celebrate the 60th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam friendship year. I feel especially delighted seeing the Chinese and Vietnamese youth join hands to build blocks for and make contributions to the long-lasting China-Vietnam friendship. Yong people are full of vigor and vitality, ideals and creative spirit and the future and hope for the China-Vietnam friendship are placed on you. The CPC and the Chinese government always attach importance to and support the exchanges and cooperation between youth of both countries and hope such type of event can increase the understanding between the Chinese and Vietnamese youth, deepen the traditional friendship between the two peoples and constantly inject youthful vitality into the undertaking of China-Vietnam friendship.

He stressed that China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors linked by common mountains and rivers and our people enjoy a profound traditional friendship which was personally fostered and carefully cultivated by the older generation of leaders including Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh and is the precious spiritual wealth of both countries and our people. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Vietnamese side to continuously push forward the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields from a strategic and over-all height and deepen the contacts and friendship between the two peoples, especially the young people so as to make the China-Vietnam friendship deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples.

He hopes the young people of both countries hold lofty ambitions, keep the whole world in view, learn from each other and promote each other, contribute to their own country’s development with their wisdom and ability and write a new glorious chapter for the development of China-Vietnam friendship and all-round strategic partnership.

Nong Duc Manh said in the message that the young friends of Vietnam and China meet together and attend the grand celebration in order to carry forward the traditional friendship established by the older generation and jointly create a new chapter of Vietnam-China friendship. On behalf of the CPV, the Vietnamese government and people, I would like to extend cordial greetings and best wishes to the young participants in the grand celebration and through you to youth of both countries. I hope the young people of both countries use your wisdom and ability to create a better tomorrow for the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and China.

Li Yuanchao, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and Ho Duc Viet, member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee and Minister of the Organization Department of the CPV Central Committee attended the celebration and delivered speeches respectively.

Li Yuanchao said that China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors linked by common mountains and rivers and the two peoples enjoy a long tradition of friendship. The history of China-Vietnam relations fully proves that China and Vietnam can achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcome and realize common development so long as they respect, understand and trust each other and strengthen cooperation. He hopes youth of both countries learn from and help each other and pass on the baton of China-Vietnam friendship from one generation to another as required by the secretary generals of the two parties.

Ho Duc Viet noted that the grand celebration of Vietnamese and Chinese youth is one of the activities with the biggest historic and real significance commemorating the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties and celebrating the Vietnam-China friendship year and a vivid portraiture of the comrade relationship plus brotherhood between Vietnam and China. The CPV and the Vietnamese government attach great importance to and support the friendly exchanges between youth of both countries and believe such exchanges will definitely help increase the mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples and guarantee the long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and China.

More than 32,000 Chinese and Vietnamese youth attended the grand celebration in the Sports Center of Guangxi which was followed by a gala performance entitled Youth - Song of Friendship with the theme of “friendship, youth and heritage”. Performers of both countries displayed the excellent culture and strong ethnic flavor of China and Vietnam through distinct artistic forms and expressed good wishes for the long-lasting friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese people.

Li Yuanchao and Ho Duc Viet on the morning of August 28 jointly attended the launch ceremony of friendship forest and fingerprint wall between the Chinese and Vietnamese youth and in the afternoon met with representatives of Chinese and Vietnamese youth participating in the grand celebration and took pictures with them.

Related officials from the Organization Department and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Committee of Communist Youth League and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were present at the above activities.
