Trinidad and Tobago celebrates its 48th Anniversary of Independence on Aug. 31, 2010. President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi of the People's Republic of China sent their Letters of Congratulations to H.E. President George Maxwell Richards, the Honourable Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the Honourable Foreign Minister Surujrattan Rambachan.

In his Letter of Congratulations to President Richards, President Hu Jintao says, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Chinese people and in my own name, warm congratulations and best wishes to Your Excellency and through you, to the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In his Letter of Congratulations to Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar, Premier Wen Jiabao says, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Chinese Government and in my own name, sincere congratulations and best wishes to Your Honourable and through you, to the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. May the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago enjoy prosperity and its people enjoy happiness. May the friendly and cooperative relationship of mutual-benefit and development between China and Trinidad and Tobago continue to be consolidated and advanced.
